Dear all,
Today sitagliptin (dpp 4 inhibitor) has gone off the patent. Till now only MSD had marketing rights under trade name janumet. The tablet was very expensive around 35rs per tablet.
With the patent going off , many new indian brands have now come with cheaper sitagliptin costing approximately 9 to 10 rupees per tablet. This has reduced the cost to one third. As a result we can now prescribe sitagliptin to a bigger population and help them get benefits of this molecule.
